PUSDATIN Ready to Support National Polytechnic Admission Selection (SNMPN) in 2022

The Center for Data and Information Technology (PUSDATIN) of the Ministry of Education, culture, research, and technology (Kemendikbudristek), through Mursid Triasmanto, Statistical Analyst, stated its readiness to support the National Selection for Higher Education Entrance Program, SNMPN 2022, at the inauguration of the National Selection Path for State Polytechnics (SNMPN) 2022, in Jakarta, today (03/01/2022).

PUSDATIN, in collaboration with the Academic Directorate of Vocational Higher Education Kemendikbudristek and the Director's Forum of Indonesian State Polytechnics (FDPNI), and the presence of Principals of Vocational School (SMK) / senior high school (SMA)/ Islamic Senior High School (MA) /MAK throughout Indonesia as well as Counseling Guidance Teachers (hybrid, ed.), provides an overview of the renewal of the concept of data and information governance based on the development needs of Indonesian education development.

The education data verification and validation system (Verval Data) tries to correct erroneous data owing to data duplication. Typically, this occurs when students who are no longer active have moved and are still enrolled in the former school for some reason. Meanwhile, in new schools, students are re-recorded so that data duplication has the potential to occur. “The Education Unit plays a significant role in the student data collection process. Both schools, operators and school principals are expected to coordinate to update data such as NISN, student identities and so on so that the validation verification target can be met,” said Mursid.

“The data used is from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Furthermore, as it turns out, there are still issues with educational master data. As a result, Verval Data is required, as this data will serve as the foundation for the next national selection program,” He said.

Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, S.T., M.T., Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education, also stated that the government had made efforts to realize government data management that is accurate, up-to-date, integrated, and accountable, as well as easy to access and share between Central Agencies and Regional Agencies through the One Data Indonesia program. “The Ministry of Home Affairs has centralized the data. Moreover, the data is not just for internal usage among agencies; it may also be used to meet the community's public data requirements. One of these is the use of data in national selection programs for higher education, such the SNMPN,” he continued.

On December 28, 2021, internal socialization for each polytechnic participating in this selection was held before the 2022 SNMPN was announced. Given the importance of data in the selection process, Drs. L. Manik Mustikohendro, Head of the Education Unit Data and Learning Process PUSDATIN of Kemendikbudristek, also had the opportunity to speak about the Data Ecosystem.

“Data is representative of every citizen whose education must be ensured. Each individual will leave a track record of educational data, from the beginning of joining primary education to further education, junior high school, high school / vocational / MA and tertiary education. For this reason, more understanding is needed in terms of managing educational data, "said Manik Mustikohendro (SNMPN PR Coordinator).
