PNL signs MoU with PTPN I of Langsa

Langsa - Lhokseumawe State Polytechnic (PNL) and PT Perkebunan Nusantara I (PTPN I) Langsa agreed to collaborate on the Tri Dharma [three pillars] of Higher Education. The form of the agreement between the two parties was realized by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Director of PNL Ir. Rizal Syahyadi, ST., M.Eng.Sc and Director of PTPN I of Langsa

The PNL Director, Rizal Syahyadi, thanked and praised the host for the warm welcome extended to him and his entourage in his remarks.

The man who goes by Didi stated, "We appreciate you for the welcome to our exceptional group.".

Didi revealed this concerning the MoU because it was the ministry's demands that were included in the Freedom to Learn, Independent Campus (MBKM), one of which involves internship points for students.

"It is required of us at the vocational school to offer internships to students for up to six months. The business community also supports it; this is tied to MBKM, which mandates that students complete internships, "revealed Didi.

"During Mas Mentri’[ Nickname for Nadiem Makarim] administration, there have been numerous advancements in higher education. The Head of the Lhokseumawe Branch of the Indonesian Engineers Association stated, "So if there are students that are misbehaving, please simply "tweak" it.

Ahmad Gusmar Harahap, the director of PTPN I Langsa, claimed that it was associated with the agreement being signed between his party and PNL as a demonstration of his party's support for universities.

"This demonstrates that we are a State-owned Enterprise (BUMN) subsidiary. Internships are one of the higher education programs that must maintain our existence. We accepted PNL interns even though there will not be an MoU in place for 2020; but, since every internship is required to be related to an MoU by law, we are currently bound by the MoU, "Ahmad Gusmar said.

He emphasized that, in principle, the company is very supportive of the student internship program.

"In principle, we still support it because students need to do internships, because when looking for work, this will be very useful for them, especially during interviews," explained Ahmad Gusmar.

"In Aceh, we are very constrained because there are few companies, while many students need internships. So we have to arrange this in such a way because other campuses also need internships, not only PNL. However, we are ready to support; the important thing is that we coordinate with each other," he continued.

The received manuscript related to the MoU agreement between PNL and PTPN 1 stated that the purpose of the MoU was to increase cooperation between the two parties in implementing student development programs in the fields of education, training, and research and community service.

As for the scope of the agreement, it is stated that it is related to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research and community service.

Then, it was decided on student internships and fieldwork opportunities, teaching support, entrepreneurial endeavors, and other activities.

Both parties agreed that the contract would expire two years after it was signed according to its duration.
